Why The UK Was Desperate To Recover Dead High Commissioner’s Watch Cremated In Lagos

The late Peter Leslie Carter was the immediate past Deputy High Commissioner of the United Kingdom to Nigeria, who slumped and died upon arrival from the United States of America at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport in Lagos on September 2.
According to a source, TOS Funerals was the mortuary, where the remains of the carter who died of cardiac arrest was deposited.

However, a dramatic situation was said to have occurred when the British High Embassy was informed of his demise at the airport. The diplomats had been more than curious about his wristwatch, which our investigations revealed was believed to have been used to gather some vital security information from his trip abroad.
Those who attended the funeral at the TOS Funerals were wondering about the reasons behind the curiosity and desperation about the whereabouts of the watch until a British Embassy official disclosed that a surveillance equipment like wristwatch, sunglasses, and pens, just to mention a few, are attached to highly revered diplomats like the late Peter Leslie Carter.

According to the source, the information gathered from such secret services instruments are used for security operations and diplomatic relationship management.
It was however, reported that the TOS Funerals team delivered the wristwatch to the officials of the British Embassy.
The late Carter is fondly remembered for his excellent contributions to the diplomatic relations between Nigeria and the united kingdom.
