Governor
Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State might not be enjoying the best of time at the
moment with the way people from many quarters have been faulting his government
and policies in recent times.
One of
the alleged faults of the Governor is his inability to pay workers salaries,
even when he has reportedly being given bailout fund by the Federal
government, and he is also being criticized over his alleged unguarded utterances
at public functions.
To make
matters worse, we were informed that there is a cold war between the Governor
and the lawmakers in the Oyo State House of Assembly led by the Speaker, Rt.
Hon. Michael Adeyemo.
Those in
the know hinted that Gov. Ajimobi recently ordered the stoppage of the Speaker’s
fuel supply from the pool, a development which many described as unusual.
Information
made available to Pacesetters last week revealed that the source of electricity
in the government house has been cut off by the Ibadan Electricity Distribution
Company (IBEDC) as the state government is said to owe IBEDC over 200 million
naira.
Furthermore,
it was gathered that Governor Ajimobi initially withdrew the staff buses
allocated to the civil servants in the state shortly after the April, 2015
General Elections on the grounds that they voted for his major opponent in the
election, Senator Rasidi Ladoja, but he reportedly returned the buses after the
intervention of some notable elders in the state.
A source told
Pacesetters
anonymously: “let me tell you, Governor Ajimobi’s second term in office
is a disaster because he has turned himself into a thin God, no one can him to
order anymore since the demise of the late Aare Musulumi of Yorubaland,
Arisekola Alao.”
The
source however, told Pacesetters that Governor Ajimobi is
the most travelled governor in the country as he said that he spends most times
abroad instead of staying back to tackle the challenges facing the state.
