Eid-el-Kabir: Ambode, Obasa Call For Endurance, Understanding

Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, and the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, have called for endurance, tolerance and understanding among Nigerians for peace to reign in the country.
Ambode and Obasa made the calls in their Eid-el-Kabir messages on Sunday.
Ambode, in a message by his Chief Press Secretary, Habib Aruna, said the festivity called for reflection and the need for every Muslim and other Nigerians to embrace the virtues of sacrifice, humility and brotherly love.
“The significance of the season should be beyond the festivities; it should be a moment to reflect on why God has united everyone with a common humanity of blood, food and water, as these should constitute what bind the people,” Ambode said.
He also called on Nigerians to rededicate themselves to a greater acceptance and internalisation of the lessons of piety, obedience and selfless service.
He said the prevailing economic recession currently taking its toll on Nigerians was only a phase that would pave the way for a new dawn in the country.

Obasa, in his message, called on Nigerians to exhibit tolerance for peace to reign in the country.
In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Musbau Razak, the Speaker said citizens needed to show understanding for one another’s feelings in order to build a great nation.
He said, “Nigerians need the spirit of perseverance, tolerance and understanding displayed by Prophet Ibrahim when he decided to sacrifice his only son to Almighty Allah as a fulfilment of the promise he made earlier while seeking the face of Allah for a child.”
Obasa thanked Nigerians for their support for the All Progressives Congress’ administration at the state and federal levels, appealing to them not to relent in their prayers and support for the government.

“We are in economic recession, but the present administration has shown capacity to take us out of this situation. It is obvious that the government cannot do it alone; it is our duty to contribute our quota to developing this country.
“While celebrating the Sallah, we should be moderate and avoid actions or utterances that can lead to violence or any event that can disrupt the peace of the state and the country,” he added.
