    Hillix Unveils First Artiste, Victor

MD/CEO Melvic Gold, Angela Ukara-Makinwa, newly signed act, Ojo Victor Oluwagbenro and Opeyemi Adebola-Walter
Recently launched urban entertainment and talent management company, Hillix Entertainment, has welcomed its first signee, Ojo Victor Oluwagbengro, popularly known as Kings Music.

Speaking at the official unveiling in Ikeja, Lagos, the Head A&R, Mr. Opeyemi Adebola-Walter said the outfit aims to discover talents, both young and old and create opportunity for them to express their talents.
“Access is the greatest gift you can give to anyone and a lot of talented young individuals out there seek access to an audience of one or many. As a talent management organisation, we discover, grow, expose and commercialize talent.“What we are bringing into the talent management industry is this access that is required by many including trainings along with career and financial counseling.

According to Opeyemi, discovering talent is not limited to music alone, as the outfit is also looking at dancers, comedians, content providers, media personalities, paint artists, disc jokeys (deejays).
“Our A&R team is seriously on the lookout for more talent. Right now, the immediate plan is to groom, brand and market these talents,” he enthused. On what prompted the entertainment company to sign Kings Band as it first act, Opeyemi said, “We have watched the Kings Band over time and discovered that first, there is this determination to succeed, and once an individual is determined to succeed, skills sharpening will come into play.

“Over time we have seen them (Kings Band) exhibit this in their own little way and we have decided to open them up to a larger audience. With their talent and dexterity when it comes to delivering their services, we strongly believe that they are a perfect fit for our goals,” he stated.
Speaking of changing the game in the industry, the Managing Director, Melvic Gold, parent company of Hillix Entertainment, Mrs. Angela Ukara-Makinwa, explained that most talent management organisations go into the business with the aim of making money and exploiting the talents.

She explained that as a game changer that has stepped into the industry, the sole aim of the company is to groom and nurture talents, stressing that what will separate the boys from the men is how well you understand how to manage the artistes you are working with.
“Signing an artiste is not a marriage; make it a year and renew every year if both party involved have good intention to each other. We want to show them how it should be done and this means we are not just doing something different but we will get other industry players to follow our lead and play the game the right way,” she said.

According to Ukara-Makinwa, though the outfit is a talent management company at the moment, they are looking at opening the record label arm, which will cover music and video production.“Our mission is to marry innovation, dexterity and excellence in the provision of entertainment and entertainment platforms.
So in the next few years we want to be seen as a company that came into the industry and changed the game for the better. We wouldn’t want to blow our own trumpet, so be on the lookout and you will see what wonders we have in store.”
