    COVID-19 Cases in Nigeria Exceed to 19,000 as NCDC Announces 667 New Infections

    Nigeria has recorded 667 new cases of COVID-19, with the latest update, the total tally of infected people in the country rose to 19,147.
    The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) announced this on Friday via its official Twitter handle.

    Twelve deaths were recorded from the virus on Friday bringing the total number of confirmed deaths from the virus to 487.
    NCDC also revealed that 274 patients were discharged in the last 24 hours taking the number of recoveries to 6581.

    The health agency in a tweet Friday night said the new cases were reported in 22 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
    Lagos State, the epicentre of the virus in Nigeria recorded the highest figure of cases with 281 new infections taking the total number of confirmed cases in Lagos to 8,177.

    48 new cases of the virus were found in Abia state, Oyo had 45 cases, FCT reported 38 cases, Ogun reported 37 cases, Enugu confirmed 31 cases, Ondo had 23 cases, Plateau reported 21 cases and Edo confirmed 19 cases.

    While Delta and Rivers reported 18 cases each, Bayelsa and Akwa Ibom confirmed 17 cases each,  Kaduna had 14 cases and Kano reported 12 cases.

    Also Bauchi reported nine cases of the virus infection, Gombe confirmed four cases, Osun, Benue, Nasarawa and Kwara reported three cases each, Ekiti had two cases and Borno reported one case.

    Nigeria has tested 108,548 persons since the first confirmed case relating to the COVID-19 pandemic was announced on 27 February 2020.

    On the 19th of June 2020, 667 new confirmed cases and 12 deaths were recorded in Nigeria
    No new state has reported a case in the last 24 hours.
    Till date, 19,147 cases have been confirmed, 6581 cases have been discharged and 487 deaths have been recorded in 35 states and the Federal Capital Territory
