    Nigeria Records 594 New Cases of COVID-19, 7 More Deaths

    594 new cases of the COVID-19 infection have been confirmed on Thursday night by the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).

    This brings the total confirmed cases in Nigeria to 22,614, out of which a total of 7,822 patients have been discharged after recovering from the disease, with 549 deaths recorded.

    Announcing the new cases via its official Twitter handle, NCDC confirmed the new cases in 21 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

    The current breakdown of the cases shows that Lagos State, the epicentre of the virus in Nigeria recorded the highest figure of cases with 159 new infections, Delta reported 106 cases, Ondo reported 44 cases, while FCT and Edo had 34 cases each.

    Also Oyo and Kaduna reported 33 cases each of coronavirus, Enugu had 28 cases, Katsina reported 25 cases, Imo reported 22 cases, Adamawa confirmed 15 cases, Ogun had 12 cases and Osun confirmed 11 cases.

    While Abia had eight cases, Rivers reported six cases, Nasarawa, Bauchi and Niger reported five cases each, Kebbi reported four cases, Ekiti confirmed three cases, Plateau and Taraba reported one case each.

    Nigeria has so far tested 122,155 persons since the first confirmed case relating to the COVID-19 pandemic was announced.

    As of the time of reporting, 35 states and the FCT have recorded at least a case of the disease. Only one state, Cross River, is yet to report any case of the virus.

    On the 25th of June 2020, 594 new confirmed cases and 7 deaths were recorded in Nigeria.
    No new state has reported a case in the last 24 hours.
    Till date, 22614 cases have been confirmed, 7822 cases have been discharged and 549 deaths have been recorded in 35 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
