A total of 561 new cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) has been confirmed in Nigeria, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) made this known late Tuesday.
The new cases brings the number of confirmed Coronavirus infections in Nigeria to 25,694
In a post on its Twitter handle, the health agency said, the new cases were reported in 18 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
17 deaths were recorded from the virus on Tuesday bringing the total number of confirmed deaths from the virus to 590.
Also announced the discharge of 334 patients from isolation centers across the country, taking the total number of people discharged to 9,746
Lagos remains the epicentre as it has 200 new cases to maintain lead on the chart.
While Edo reported 119 new cases of coronavirus, Kaduna and FCT had 52 cases each, Niger reported 32 cases, Ogun reported 19 cases, Ondo had 16 cases, Imo had 14 cases and Plateau confirmed 11 cases.
Also, Abia and Oyo state confirmed eight cases each of the virus, Bayelsa reported seven cases, Katsina confirmed six cases, Kano had 5 cases. Bauchi, Osun and Kebbi reported three cases each, Borno had 2 cases and Jigawa with one case.
As of the time of reporting, 35 states and the FCT have recorded at least a case of the disease. Only one state, Cross River, is yet to officially report any case of the virus.
Nigeria has so far tested 134,257 persons since the first confirmed case relating to the COVID-19 pandemic was announced.
