    COVID-19: 595 New Cases Recorded, Infections Toll Rises to 34,854 in Nigeria

    According to the latest reports released late Thursday by Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), 595 new COVID-19 cases has been recorded in the country as the virus infections toll rose to 34,854

    NCDC noted that 293 patients have recovered and have been discharged in the last 24 hours, while the country’s death toll stands at 769 after nine more coronavirus-related deaths were reported in the country on Thursday.

    The new cases were recorded in 23 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
    Lagos still tops the chart with 156 new cases of the virus infections followed by Ondo and Rivers state with 95 and 53 cases respectively.

    Other states with new virus infections cases as follows: Abia (43), Oyo (38), Enugu (29), Edo (24), FCT(23), Kaduna (20), Akwa Ibom (17), Anambra (17), Osun (17), Ogun (14), Kano (13), Imo (11), Delta (6), Ekiti (5), Gombe (4), Plateau (4), Cross River (2), Adamawa (1), Bauchi (1), Jigawa (1), Yobe (1)

    Meanwhile, the agency in line with the national strategy on testing, has continued to scale up diagnostic capacity for COVID-19 in the country.
    Since the beginning of the outbreak in Nigeria in February, more than 202,097 samples have been tested by NCDC, out of which 34,854 were positive.

    On the 16th of July 2020, 595 new confirmed cases and 9 deaths were recorded in Nigeria
    No new state has reported a case in the last 24 hours.
    Till date, 34854 cases have been confirmed, 14292 cases have been discharged and 769 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
