    COVID-19: Cases in Nigeria Exceed 28,000 as NCDC Reports 603 New Infections

    An additional 603 new cases of COVID-19 infections were recorded on Saturday night, according to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).

    With the latest update, the total tally of infected people in the country rose to .28,167

    Six deaths were recorded from the virus on Saturday bringing the total number of confirmed deaths from the virus to 634
    NCDC also announced the discharge of 393 patients from isolation centers across the country, total discharged now 11,462

    The health agency in a tweet Saturday night said the new cases were reported in 18 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

    Lagos State remains the epicentre of COVID-19 in Nigeria, reported the highest daily figure of infections on Saturday followed by Edo and FCT with 135, 87 and 73 cases respectively.

    Other states with new virus infections as follows: Rivers-67, Delta-62, Ogun-47, Kaduna-20, Plateau-19, Osun-17, Ondo-16, Enugu-15, Oyo-15, Borno-13, Niger-6, Nasarawa-4, Kebbi-3, Kano-2, Sokoto-1 and Abia-1

    The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control has conducted about 148,188 tests since the first confirmed case relating to the COVID-19 pandemic was announced.

    On the 4th of July 2020, 603 new confirmed cases and 6 deaths were recorded in Nigeria
    No new state has reported a case in the last 24 hours.
    Till date, 28167 cases have been confirmed, 11462 cases have been discharged and 634 deaths have been recorded in 35 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
