    COVID-19: Over 26,000 Cases in Nigeria as NCDC Reports 790 New Infections

    Nigeria's experience in the Covid-19 pandemic reached another milestone.

    Nigeria on Wednesday, recorded 790 new cases of coronavirus in 20 states and the Federal Capital Territory, bringing the total figure of confirmed infection to 26,484 the highest single-day total since counts began in February.

    Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) disclosed this via its official Twitter handle, as thirteen more deaths were also recorded and 406 patients were discharged from isolation centers after tested negative to the virus.

    According to the breakdown of new cases of infections in the country, Delta reported the highest figure with 166 infections, followed by Lagos with 120 cases, Enugu had 66 cases, FCT- reported 65 cases and Edo confirmed l60 cases.

    Also, 43 infections were reported in Ogun, Kano confirmed 41 cases, Kaduna had 39 cases, Ondo- reported 33 cases, Rivers had 32 cases, Bayelsa confirmed 29 cases and Katsina had 21 cases.

    Imo reported 20 cases of the virus, Kwara had 18 cases, Oyo confirmed eleven cases, Abia reported ten cases, Benue had six cases, Gombe reported four cases, while Yobe, Bauchi and Kebbi confirmed two cases each

    Nigeria has so far tested 138,462 persons since the first confirmed case relating to the COVID-19 pandemic was announced.

    On the 1st of July 2020, 790 new confirmed cases and 13 deaths were recorded in Nigeria
    No new state has reported a case in the last 24 hours.
    Till date, 26,484 cases have been confirmed, 10,152 cases have been discharged and 603 deaths have been recorded in 35 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
