    Steve Babaeko Emerges AAAN President

    Chief Executive Officer and Chief Creative Officer of X3M Ideas Group, Steve Babaeko has emerged the 21st President of the Association of Advertising Agencies of Nigeria, AAAN, in a virtual 47th Annual General Meeting which was the first digital conference and elections in the annals of the association.

    The digital election model was adopted in a bid to comply with governments and health authorities’ directives at measures to curtail the spread of the pandemic.

    Seasoned Public Relations practitioner, strategy expert and journalist, Jenkins Alumona who was also elected alongside Babaeko, emerged as the new Vice President of AAAN to direct the affairs of the association for the next two years.
    The Strategic Outcomes Ltd CEO, Alumona has over 27 years’ experience working with top flight Nigerian companies including The Guardian, TheNews Magazine, The Quadrant Company, Econet Wireless Nigeria and Globacom, where he was a principal manager in the brand communications department.

    Steve whose main campaign theme and manifesto revolve around “ADvancing together” will lead other eminent professionals elected into the new exco, in getting the association to members’ desired lofty height.

    Babaeko announced his revolutionary manifesto on Thursday last week hinged on world class positioning and women empowerment.

    He started his advertising career in 1995 with MC&A Saatchi & Saatchi as a young writer. Steve worked in Prima Garnet for five years. Also spent 7 years at 141 Worldwide, where he worked as creative director.

    He stepped out in 2012 to pursue his dream by berthing the data-driven / digital agency, X3M Ideas.
    Steve is renowned for his creativity and consistency as he has successfully taken one of Nigeria’s most innovative creative agencies, X3M Ideas to greater height, establishing X3M Ideas SA PTY to serve the business interest of the agency in the Southern African region.

    Steve Babaeko’s vision of togetherness and women empowerment are very salient and exciting points, and the advertising industry may be set for an interesting upturn under his leadership.

    Steve who holds a bachelor’s degree in Theatre Arts from the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Kaduna State, Nigeria and membership of the Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria (APCON), has become a regular feature on respected international advertising event platforms such as the Cannes Lions, New York Advertising Festival as speaker and judge respectively. In 2019, the AAAN 21st President was selected as one of Adweek’s global Creative 100.

    The Association of Advertising Agencies of Nigeria (AAAN) was founded in 1973 as a sectoral body within the Nigerian marketing communications landscape and has become a force to be reckoned with both locally and internationally.

    Formerly known as Association of Advertising Practitioners of Nigeria (AAPN), the Association formally changed its name from Association of Advertising Practitioners of Nigeria (AAPN) to Association of Advertising Agencies of Nigeria (AAAN) on May 1st, 2004 during its 31st AGM/Congress. AAAN is the umbrella body that coordinates and promotes the interest of Advertising Agencies in Nigeria.
