Huawei Unveils MateBook X with 10th Gen Intel Core CPU

Huawei MateBook X comes in four colour options
Huawei has unveiled its new premium and lightweight laptop, the MateBook X. The 13-inch device weighs less than 1 kg and houses a 3:2 3K display, along with a large keyboard and a new pressure-sensitive trackpad. The fanless machine starts at CNY 7,999 (~US$1,155) and is only available with Comet Lake-U series processors.

The latest edition in the MateBook X family is here, after much teasing from Huawei. As expected, the device features a 13-inch IPS panel that resolves at 3,000 x 2,000 pixels in a 3:2 aspect ratio. The display also has a touchscreen layer that supports 10-point multi-touch. The 278 PPI screen also has a screen-to-body ratio of 90% and supposedly a contrast ratio of 1,500:1.

Underpinning this premium display is a 42 Wh battery, which powers either the Core i5-10210U or the Core i7-10510U. All models come with 512 GB of storage and DDR3 RAM. The entry-level model, which retails in China for CNY 7,999 (~US$1,155), is the only SKU that has 8 GB of RAM. By contrast, the CNY 8,999 (~US$1,300) and CNY 9,999 (~US$1,445) Core i5 and Core i7 models have 16 GB of RAM to play with.

All models are fanless and feature Huawei's new pressure-sensitive trackpad. The trackpad extends to the edge of the chassis and has an integrated NFC reader for multi-screen collaboration. The chassis houses four speakers, too.

The MateBook X will be available to purchase in China from August 24, but it can be pre-ordered from today. There is no word yet on an international release for the premium laptop, though.
