    Nigeria Records 304 New Cases of COVID-19, Total Now 44,433

    The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed 304 new cases of coronavirus in 18 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

    With the latest update, a total of 44,433 confirmed COVID-19 cases have now been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

    The recovery rate received a major boost on Tuesday as the NCDC confirmed over 10,000 new recoveries for Lagos.

    However, 11,188 patients were discharged after testing negative to the virus, raising the total number of people recovered and discharged to 31,851, while the total number of coronavirus-related deaths recorded increased by 14

    The federal health agency made the announcement via its Twitter handle on Tuesday night.

    In the new figures released, FCT recorded the highest number of cases of the virus with 90 infections, while Lagos, Ondo and Taraba confirmed 59, 39 and 18 respectively.

    17 cases of the virus were found in Rivers state, Borno had 15, Adamawa had 12, Oyo had 11 and Delta reported 9 cases. While Edo had 6, Bauchi, Kwara, Ogun and Osun confirmed 4 cases each.

    Others states with new infections are Bayelsa-3, Plateau-3, Niger-3, Nasarawa-2 and Kano-1.

    Nigeria has tested 289,133 persons since the first confirmed case relating to the COVID-19 pandemic was announced on 27 February 2020.

    According to the NCDC, on the 4th of August 2020, 304 new confirmed cases and 14 deaths were recorded in Nigeria
    Till date, 44433 cases have been confirmed, 31851 cases have been discharged and 910 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
