    COVID-19: Nigeria Records 24 Additional Deaths, 1,005 Infections

    The number of new COVID-19 deaths reported across the nation have risen again, there has been a sharp increase in Nigeria, with more than 20 fatalities announced in the past 24 hours as per the data from the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control.

    Nigeria on Friday recorded 1,005 new cases of the novel coronavirus in 18 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

    The health agency also reported that the number of deaths reported nationwide - from the deadly virus increased by 24

    At least 854 patients have recovered from the deadly respiratory illness and were discharged on Friday. Which include 408 community recoveries in Lagos State and 99 community recoveries in Plateau State managed in line with guidelines.

    Till date, the total coronavirus cases ascended to 144,521, while the total number of recoveries and discharged reached 118,866 with the death toll stands at 1,734 in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, since the first confirmed case relating to the virus was reported on February 27, 2020.

    The newly recorded infections on Friday include 204 cases from Lagos, Kwara with 155, Oyo with 124 and Plateau had 80 cases.

    Abuja the Federal Capital Territory reported 75 cases, Edo-56, Osun-48, Ondo-41, Kaduna-40, Rivers-40, Taraba-35, Borno-32, Ekiti-21, Ogun-20, Kano-14, Bayelsa-8, Delta-7, Bauchi-3 and Jigawa-2.
