    NCDC Announces 8 Additional Deaths, 287 New Infections

    Health officials in Nigeria confirmed less than 300 new COVID-19 infections Thursday, as the nation's deaths toll crossed 2,000 mark.

    Nigeria Centre for Disease Control NCDC, logged 287 new cases of the disease caused by the novel coronavirus today in 17 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

    The 287 cases mark a decrease over Wednesday’s report when 394 were reported.

    Also, the country confirmed 8 additional deaths related to the disease. While the number of people who have recuperated from the disease increased by 2,421 in the last 24 hours.

    Right now, there are 15,528 active cases of COVID-19 across Nigeria. The active cases caseload dropped by 2,142.

    The discharges today include 1,858 community recoveries in FCT and 259 community recoveries in Lagos State managed in line with guidelines.

    A total of 2,001 deaths have been reported so far in the country, while Nigeria’s COVID-19 caseload rose to 159,933 and the number of recoveries stands at 142,404 in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

    According to the breakdown released by NCDC, Lagos reported 107, Kwara-26, Akwa Ibom-23, Bauchi-22, Ogun-21, Rivers-19, Kaduna-14, FCT-11, Abia-8, Edo-8, Ekiti-6, Kano-5, Gombe-4, Osun-4, Oyo-3, Plateau-3, Nasarawa-2 and Delta-1.
