    COVID-19: 8 New Cases Reported, Second Lowest Single-Day Record this Year

    Nigeria, the continent’s most populous nation, has reported only 8 cases and no death related to the disease among its over 200 million citizens on Saturday.

    Saturday’s cases is the second lowest single-day record since January 2021. The lowest this year was 7 cases, reported on May 16.

    The number of daily reported cases more or less stabilized lately, after an increase in January when the nation reported 1,883 cases on Jan. 30, 1,964 cases on Jan. 21 and the highest this year on Jan. 22nd with 2,314 cases reported.

    The latest report from the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control NCDC showed the new figures raised the country's total to 167,059.

    NCDC also recorded 6 new COVID-19 survivors for a total of 163,436 recoveries.

    The death toll remained 2,117 as no additional fatalities recorded on Saturday.

    The number of active COVID-19 cases in the nation slightly up by 2,  now stand at 1,506.

    The 8 new cases are reported from 2 states- Akwa Ibom and Rivers with 4 cases each.
