Nigeria added 49 new COVID-19 cases on Monday, as case counts continue to trend downward marking the seventh day in a row it’s below 200, since May 31st when the country recorded 203 cases. 

The number of new infections reported today is higher than the 11 cases logged on Sunday.

With the recent addition, the total number of people who have contracted the virus in Nigeria has now risen to 166,816.

According to Monday’s report, 30 cases were recorded in Ondo, 15 in Lagos, 2 in Kaduna and 1 case each in Gombe and Adamawa.

NCDC noted that 9 states reported zero cases, which include Plateau, Kano, Ekiti, Osun, Oyo, Ogun, Taraba, and Sokoto.

Resolved cases increased after 94 patients recovered from the disease and were discharged from hospital across the country. A total of 163,190 Nigeria residents were reported to have recovered from COVID-19 since the beginning of the pandemic.

Today’s report includes 51 community recoveries from Lagos state managed in line with guidelines, the health authorities added.

Death toll due to coronavirus stands at 2,117 as no fatalities were reported in the past 24 hours.

A total of 47,383 tests were completed in the past one week. Nigeria has tested 2,180,444 persons since the first confirmed case relating to the COVID-19 pandemic was announced.

As of Monday, Nigeria has 1,509 active cases of COVID-19, down from the previous day when it was at 1,554.
