    Nigeria Records 8 Deaths, 590 New COVID-19 Cases

    For the third time this month, more than 500 new COVID-19-related cases were recorded in Nigeria.

    Nigeria on Friday recorded 590 new novel coronavirus COVID-19 cases in 17 states and Federal Capital Territory.

    The 590 cases mark an increase over Thursday’s report when 535 were added.

    With the new confirmed cases, a total of 173,411 COVID-19 infections have now been recorded across the country. The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) disclosed this via its official Facebook page.

    The death toll in the nation now stands at 2,149 as 8 new deaths were recorded.

    Meanwhile, a total of 164,978  Nigerians reported to have recovered from COVID-19, including 48 recoveries and discharged reported on Friday.

    Active cases in  Nigeria now stand at 6,274, up from the previous day when it was 5,740.

    Most of the new cases recorded today were found in Lagos-308, Akwa Ibom-54, Katsina-40, Oyo-39, Rivers-26 and Niger-23.

    Also in Gombe-19, Ogun-16, Ekiti-15, FCT-10, Nasarawa-10, Delta-9, Bayelsa-5, Plateau-5, Imo-4, Ebonyi-3, Jigawa-3 and Kano-1.

    Today's report includes cases reported for Niger state for 28th July (12) and 29th July (11).

    Cases reported for Delta state for 10th (1), 11th (1), 13th (3), and 29th July (4) .

    And 0 cases reported from Ondo and Osun States, NCDC noted.
