The iconic track has debuted for the first time on the U.K.’s Official Streaming Chart, entering at No. 95. The ranking tracks the most-played songs across major streaming platforms and reflects current listening habits in the British market.
A Late Streaming Debut for an ’80s Classic
Released in 1985, “Into the Groove” was a massive success during the peak of Madonna’s early career. However, like many songs from that era, its original popularity came long before platforms such as Spotify and Apple Music transformed the music industry. At the time, fans typically purchased singles on vinyl records, cassette tapes, CDs, or later as digital downloads to listen on demand.
Because of this, many of Madonna’s early hits are only now appearing on modern streaming-focused rankings as listeners rediscover them online.
Fourth Career Entry on the U.K. Streaming Chart
The new placement marks Madonna’s fourth appearance on the Official Streaming Chart. Her first came in 2015 with “Bitch I’m Madonna,” a collaboration with Nicki Minaj, which peaked at No. 73.
Years later, she returned to the list through collaborations and renewed interest in older material. In 2023, Madonna appeared alongside The Weeknd and Playboi Carti on the track “Popular.” A year later, her classic “Like a Prayer” resurfaced on the chart following renewed exposure tied to the film Deadpool & Wolverine.
Lowest Entry, But Still a Milestone
While the No. 95 debut is the lowest starting position of Madonna’s streaming entries, it still represents a significant milestone for a song that first topped charts decades before streaming existed.
During its original run, “Into the Groove” was a major hit in Britain, spending four consecutive weeks at No. 1 on the Official Singles Chart. The song has now accumulated 17 total weeks on that ranking.
Remarkably, its last appearance on the chart before this recent resurgence was January 1986, meaning the track has returned to the tally more than 40 years later.
Competition on the Latest Streaming Chart
Madonna’s entry arrives during a competitive week on the U.K. streaming ranking, with new songs from artists including Bruno Mars, Alex Warren, Raye and K-pop group Blackpink also debuting.
Catalog Success Continues
Madonna’s catalog is also seeing renewed interest on the album side. Her remix compilation Finally Enough Love has climbed on two U.K. charts this week, rising to No. 74 on the Official Albums Streaming Chart and to No. 92 on the Official Albums Chart.
The renewed chart activity comes as Madonna continues to work on new material, with a new album expected sometime in 2026, further extending a career that has spanned more than four decades.
