Nigerian Badminton Pair Opeyori, Olofua Bow Out of Tokyo Olympics

Team Nigeria’s Badminton duo of Godwin Olofua and Juwon Opeyori wrapped up their group phase campaign, losing 2-0 (21-8,21-10) to Russia’s Ivan Sozonov and Vladimir Ivanov.

They exit Tokyo 2020 after a third consecutive defeat at the Olympics.

The team suffered a 2-0 (21-2, 21-7) defeat to the Japanese duo of Yuta Watanabe and Hiroyuki Endo in their first group game.

Denmark’s duo of Kim Astrup and Anders Skaarup inflicted the Nigerians with a 2-0 defeat in their second group game (21-7, 21-10).
