    COVID-19: Nigeria Reports 11 Additional Death, 636 New Infections

    The daily COVID-19 active rate in Nigeria has continued to rise as the nation on Friday reported 636 new COVID-19 cases and 11 coronavirus related deaths in the last 24 hours.

    The country’s active caseload stood at 12,367 with 181,297 total infections and 2,211 deaths recorded so far, according to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Centre NCDC.

    The new cases reported today, shows a decrease from the 753 confirmed a day earlier.

    However, a total of 166,709 Nigeria residents were reported to have recovered from COVID-19, as resolved cases increased by 149 on late Friday.

    Active cases further increased by 476 from the nation's last update. 

    The public health officials in its report said that the new cases were found in 16 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

    The breakdown as follows Lagos reported 291 cases, Rivers-117, Taraba-58, Akwa Ibom-54 and Kwara-28.

    Ekiti and Ogun had 14 cases each, FCT-13, Oyo-11, Edo-9, Osun-6 and Bayelsa-5.

    Delta and Gombe reported 4 cases each, Abia and Plateau had 3 cases each and Sokoto reported 1 case.

    While Nasarawa and Ondo are the only two states with zero cases.

    Today’s report includes report for Taraba are backlog from July to August, 202,  NCDC added.
