The Head of Nigeria office, WAEC, Mr Patrick Areghan made
this known on Tuesday at a press briefing to announce preparations for the 2021
WASCCE.
According to him, the 2021 WASSCE will commence on August 16
and end on October 8, 2021.
“Let me use this medium to announce that as we continue to
make progress in the conduct of the council’s business in Nigeria, NIN will
become a major requirement for registration for the WASSCE with effect from the
WASSCE for school candidates in 2022 and subsequent dates (No NIN, no entry!).”
He enjoined students in SS one and SS two to start
registration for NIN against 2022.
“This means that all prospective candidates must register
with the National Identity Management Commission and get their NIN. This is in line with the Federal Government’s
policy as directed by the Federal Ministry of Education.
“Also, in accordance with the final international timetable,
the WSSCE 2021 will take place throughout the sub-region from Monday, 16th
August to Friday, 8th October, 2021. However, the examination will end in
Nigeria on 30th September, 2021 – spanning a period of seven weeks.”
He explained that 19,425 recognised secondary schools,
comprising 8,052 public and 11,373 private schools would be presenting 1,573,789
candidates.
