    Nigeria Reports 5 Additional Deaths, 175 New COVID-19 Cases

    Nigeria registered 175 new COVID-19 cases in 11 states and the Federal Capital Territory, with 5 additional deaths related to the disease in the last 24 hours.

    Friday’s case count comes after officials logged 247cases on Thursday.

    With fresh cases, the country's overall caseload has now mounted to 210,136 and 2,855 Nigeria residents have succumbed to the disease, according to the data released by Nigeria Centre for Disease Control NCDC on Friday.

    The health officials deemed 91 more cases of the disease to be resolved as of Friday, taking Nigeria’s number of recovered patients up to 198,117

    Additional 80 active cases were recorded in the country in last 24 hours. Total now stands at 9,164.

    According to the health officials report, of the 175 new infections reported on Friday, 73 cases were identified in FCT, the second most affected by the virus in the country, followed by Plateau, Rivers, Kano and Lagos with 25, 20, 18 and 15 respectively.

    Nine cases were recorded in Bauchi, eight in Osun, three in Ekiti, two in Edo, while Bayelsa, Niger and Sokoto recorded one case each.

    Today’s report includes 0 cases from Delta State, NCDC said.
