According to the latest Nigeria Centre for
Disease Control NCDC statistics, 1,305 new COVID cases were confirmed on Saturday.
The number of deaths increased by 21 in the
data released on Saturday, with 3,014 people dying from the virus since the
pandemic began.
The health officials added that it includes backlog of deaths reported in Kaduna (4) and Imo (16) States.
While 120 patients have been successfully
treated and discharged in the past 24 hours. This includes 20 discharged cases
reported in Kaduna state on 24th (10) & 25th (10) December 2021.
As of Saturday, there were 20,643 active COVID
cases in Nigeria, up from 19,479 it was the previous day, as active COVID-19
cases in the country continue their rising trend.
With the recent addition, the country’s
COVID-19 cases has climbed up to 236,014, out of which 212,357 patients have recovered
since the start of the pandemic.
The 1,305 new cases are reported from 14 states
of the federation.
Lagos, the epicentre for the disease reported
the highest figure of cases on Saturday with 705 infections, followed by Oyo with
234 cases and Ondo reported 88 cases.
Others includes Kaduna-79, Rivers-78, Ogun-30,
Anambra-25, Kano-24, Enugu-12, Ekiti-11, Jigawa-6, Osun-6, Plateau-6 and Zamfara-1.
And zero cases reported from Bauchi and Sokoto
States.
NCDC noted that the 79 confirmed cases
reported in Kaduna state are recorded on 24th (59) & 25th (20) December 2021.
The 12 confirmed & 16 discharged cases
reported in Enugu state are backlog of cases on 24th December 2021.
NCDC further explain that the 25 confirmed
cases reported un Anambra state are infections registered on 24th December 2021.
Also 6 confirmed cases reported in Jigawa
state are cases from 24th December 2021.
And 1 confirmed case reported in Zamfara state is for 23rd December 2021.
