    Nigeria Reports One Additional COVID-19 Death,1,584 New Infections

    The number of active cases of COVID-19 in Nigeria went up by 1,348 to 8,091 on Friday from 6,743 it was the previous day, the Nigeria Center for Disease Control NCDC bulletin shows.

    While 1584 new cases of the virus were reported within the last 24 hours in 10 states and the Federal Capital Territory, pushing the nation’s total during the pandemic to 222,655.

    The bulletin added that in 24 hours, one more death occurred due to the virus, which makes the COVID-19 death toll stands at 2,984.

    The nation also reported 28 discharges in the last 24 hours. Currently, the total number of recoveries since the start of the pandemic stands at 211,373.

    According to the breakdown released by the NCDC, Lagos reported more than half of the new cases - with 906 infections, followed by Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory which reported 258 cases and Rivers with 217 cases.

    Edo state reported 85 of the new cases, Oyo had 50 cases and Ogun reported 16 cases.

    Fourteen cases were recorded in Ondo, twelve in Bayelsa, ten in Osun, nine cases in Bauchi and seven cases in Kano state.

    Today’s report includes zero case reported from Ekiti and Sokoto states, NCDC said.
