Nigeria COVID-19 daily counts dropped significantly on Thursday to over 1,900 from 4,035 cases reported the previous day. While the number of new cases has dropped over the past 24 hours, this is the country’s lowest daily count within the past two days.
The nation reported 1,940 new COVID-19 cases
as coronavirus infection continues to rise, a release issued by the Nigeria Centre
for Disease Control NCDC said on Thursday.
In its recent update on COVID-19 in the nation, the NCDC said the 1,940 new cases were recorded in 18 states and
Federal Capital Territory .
The breakdown as follows: Lagos-845, FCT-734, Oyo-120,
Rivers-69, Delta-30, Kaduna-29, Edo-21, Plateau-20, Gombe-14, Anambra-11, Enugu-11,
Osun-10, Ekiti-8, Kano-5, Bayelsa-4, Ogun-4, Katsina-3, Bauchi-1 and Jigawa-1.
While 0 cases were reported from Ondo and
Sokoto States.
NCDC said on its Facebook page, on Thursday,
that the additional infections brought the total number of cases in the nation
to 233,353.
It also reported that a total 212,040
Nigerians had been discharged nationwide, after 187 patients were reported to
have recovered from the disease in the past 24 hours. These include 13
discharged cases reported in FCT on 22nd (3) & 23rd (10) December 2021.
Also 8 and 6 discharged cases reported from Anambra and Enugu state respectively on 22nd December.
The health officials also announced that no new death on Thursday which makes the nation's virus-related death remained 2,991.
NCDC added that Thursday’s report includes 734
confirmed cases reported in FCT on 22nd (290) & 23rd (338) and additional
106 cases on the 18th (29), 19th (26),
20th (14) & 21st (37) December 2021.
And 11 confirmed cases each Anambra state and Enugu
state on 22nd December 2021.
