Nigerian Idol Season 7 has finally come to an end with Progress emerging the winner after a tight battle with Zadok.

This was pronounced at the Grand Finale which was broadcast across Africa Magic stations on Sunday.

After weeks of watching the top 12 contestants singing their hearts out on the live shows to earn fan votes, Progress and Zadok emerged as the final two.

The show’s host, IK Osakioduwa, announced Progress as the winner for the grand prize worth ₦100 million.

At the finale, D’banj and Simi, who were also judges for the show, performed on stage and thrilled the audience.

D’banj had a performance with the 2 finalists, while the season 6 winner, Kingdom Kroseide, performed with the other 10 finalists.

As the winner of the competition, Progress goes home with a cash prize of ₦30 million, a brand new SUV, a Bigi-branded refrigerator and a year’s supply of Bigi drinks.

Progress will also get to record an Extended Play album produced by a leading music producer in Nigeria and a music video, a weekend getaway from TravelBeta, and a DStv Explora fully installed with a 12 months premium subscription.

Speaking about his win, the singer stated that he would use his N30m to boost his career as well as help the underprivileged in his hometown, Warri. He further revealed that this is the first time he has ever had millions.

He said, “Music has always been my life, I have always loved to sing and I am happy that I won this competition. I am going to use the money to boost my career. I will also use it to help the underprivileged in my community in Warri. This is the first time I have ever had millions.”

The Nigerian Idol, which had; Obi Asika, Simi, D’Banj and Omawumi as judges was a keenly contested competition with attracted millions of viewership.

The final week garnered about 45 million votes to determine the eventual winner, which was eventually Progress.
