The examination had earlier been scheduled
to hold from Wednesday, 1st June to Wednesday, 8th June 2022.
A statement issued by the director, Lagos
State Examinations Board, Mr. Supo Gbadegesin had it that the BECE has been
rescheduled to commence from Wednesday, 8th June to Wednesday, 15th June, 2022
in the respective schools of the candidates.
Besides, Gbadegesin, in a statement signed
by Bakare Fatai, Public Affairs Officer, Lagos State Examinations Board and
made available to Daily Independent, also stated that as of today, Tuesday,
31st May 2022, most of the public Junior Secondary Schools (JSS) have got their
Optical Marks Readers Sheet.
He added that most registered Approved
Private Junior Secondary Schools are yet to upload the bio-data of their candidates
which caused the delay in the printing of their OMR Sheets.
In the same vein, the director informed
that it is pertinent to shift the dates of the examinations to accommodate
other schools that were unable to upload the data of their candidates into the
Board’s Database not to deny these students the opportunity to write the
examinations.
Mr. Gbadegesin also noted that the
postponement would further enable the Board to address some unforeseen
logistical problems that arose towards the commencement of the examination.
The statement added, “The Board, therefore,
solicited for the understanding of all stakeholders and assured all concerned
schools that the NEW DATES remain sacrosanct. The director regretted any
inconveniences the postponement might cause.”
