June 2022, Nigeria Centre for Disease Control NCDC said via its official website
on Thursday.
Lagos, the epicentre of COVID-19 in Nigeria
recorded most of the infections with 50 cases, Kano, a northern city in the
country had 11 cases and FCT, the capital city of Nigeria recorded 2 cases.
The commercial city of over 23.5 million
people has maintained the status of the COVID-19 epicentre since the disease
outbreak in 2020, as the data on the NCDC website shows, the state has so far
recorded a total of 99,738 cases and 769 deaths, almost a quarter of the total
deaths from the virus across the country, and 98,062 recoveries.
NCDC, however, noted that four reported zero cases:
Delta, Plateau, Rivers, and Sokoto
According to the update, the new infections
raised the total number of cases in the country to 256,467, while the fatality
toll still stands at 3,144, as no fatality was recorded in the past 48 hours.
Nigeria has so far tested 5,219,585 persons since the first confirmed case relating to the COVID-19 pandemic was announced in 2020, out of which 256,467 cases was confirmed, 250,154 recoveries were recorded and 3,144 people have lost their lives.
