    Kent University to Honour Tiwa Savage with Honorary Degree

    Multiple award-winning Nigerian singer, Tiwa Savage was today July 15th honoured by her alma mater, the University of Kent, Canterbury, England with an honorary doctorate degree.

    The mum of one who completed a degree in Accounting at the University was awarded an honorary degree of Doctor of Music during its congregation ceremonies at Canterbury and Rochester cathedrals.

    Savage was listed among 10 individuals to receive this honour during the institution’s congregation ceremonies.

    According to a statement from the institution, Tiwa Savage “will be made Doctor of Music in recognition of her inspirational and international career in music.”

    The music star after her studies at the University of Kent moved on to study music at the Berklee College of Music and graduated with a degree in professional music in 2007.

    She put out her debut album ‘Once Upon a Time’  in 2013 and her second ‘R.E.D’ in December 2015.

    In September 2017, she came up with her debut EP ‘Sugarcane’ and her second ‘Water & Garri’ in 2021.

    Tiwa Savage’s third album ‘Celia’ was released in 2020.

    The R&B star is currently signed to UMG following her 2019 exit from Mavin Records.

    The event was attended by her son, friends and other family members.
