The OIC observer mission led by Ambassador Ahmed Sareer, Director of Asian Affairs, held a meeting with the Chairman of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Uzbekistan, H.E. Mr. Nizamkhodjayev Z. Makhamatovic and conveyed the greetings of the OIC Secretary-General, H. E. Hissein Brahim Taha and his wishes for the success of the referendum process.
The OIC delegation also held a meeting with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs H.E. Mr. Braham Jan Alaev, and expressed the readiness of the OIC to support the commitment of the people of Uzbekistan as they consolidate their democracy and socioeconomic development. The meeting further emphasized the importance of cooperation between the OIC and Uzbekistan in terms of support for good governance and democracy, a main pillar of the OIC's mandate towards its member States.
