OIC Secretary-General Commends Urgent Humanitarian Aid Provided by Kuwait, Qatar, Sultanate of Oman for Benefit of Sudanese People

His Excellency Mr. Hissein Brahim Taha, the Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, commends the humanitarian assistance provided by Qatar, Kuwait and the Sultanate of Oman for the benefit of the Sudanese people. The aid aims at reducing the humanitarian impact of the military clashes currently taking place in the Sudanese capital, Khartoum, which caused great damage to services, especially in the health sector.

The Secretary-General expressed his appreciation for these humanitarian initiatives, which come within the framework of the commitment of these countries vis-à-vis Islamic solidarity.

The Secretary-General reiterated his urgent appeal to the rest of the OIC member States, financial and humanitarian institutions, and international donors to expedite the provision of urgent humanitarian assistance to Sudan in light of the worsening humanitarian situation. Sudan is especially in need for medical supplies and health services, and for a support to the efforts of Sudan's neighboring countries in hosting many Sudanese and foreign refugees.
