The SAIL is a dedicated innovation and tech lab that is
providing relevant technology, business, and digital skills to tech enthusiasts
and young entrepreneurs across the Lagos East Senatorial District, which is
located in the Ebute area of Ikorodu, Lagos State.
The lab is a private endowment project initiated in 2021 by
Senator Mukhail Abiru and his wife, Mrs Feyisola Abiru, and is being operated
in partnership with Co-creation Hub.
Unveiling the project on Friday, Sanwo-Olu described the
SAIL as a “game changer” that would amplify the narrative of technological
evolution in Lagos.
He said, “Africa missed the first Industrial Revolution; we
also missed the second. We started with the Third Industrial Revolution at the
tail end.
We don’t have any excuse not to be key stakeholders in the
coming Fourth and Fifth Industrial Revolutions, because it is the technology
that will give up the leapfrog and make a young person sitting in Ikorodu
compete with his peers across innovation capitals of the world.
“I am excited that the SAIL will be providing more
opportunities for our young people to learn, relearn and grow their skills in
the tech space and build a prosperous future for not only themselves but also
our dear country. I congratulate Senator Abiru and his wife for this wonderful
intervention.”
Abiru explained that, “SAIL took off in 2021 in partnership
with CcHub to deepen acceptance of tech innovation in the Lagos East Senatorial
District, using a human-centred design approach.’’
The lab facility is equipped with state-of-the-art
technology and is managed fully by the CcHub’s highly trained facilitators who
take the wide range of programmes being offered free-of-charge to participants
who come from different parts of the district.”
