Thespian Muse Productions Hosts Listening Event for Climate Change Drama

Nigerian theatre company Thespian Muse, in partnership with NOVVA Media & Communication, held a listening event for the climate change audio drama "Does the Sky Fall on Everyone" last Saturday in Lekki, Lagos. The audio drama is part of a theatrical podcast series created by Sunny Drake Productions in partnership with Why Not Theatre Canada, aiming to highlight global climate change crises across seven countries, including Nigeria, Australia, Mauritius, India, and more. The "Climate Change and Other Small Talks Podcast," launched on Earth Day 2023, seeks to address the impact of climate change from a local perspective while proposing local solutions.

The listening event featured a panel discussion with industry stakeholders, including media personalities, journalists, environmental activists, and sustainability enthusiasts in Lagos, Nigeria.

Omoye Uzamere, the founder of Thespian Muse and the producer of the audio drama, stated, "We aimed to harness the transformative potential of the arts to make a substantial difference in the battle against climate change, forging a more sustainable world for both present and future generations."

During the event, one of the panel speakers, Dr. Oluwatoyin Adejonwo, a senior lecturer at the Department of Public Law, University of Lagos, and Founding Director of the Centre of Climate Change and Sustainable Development (3CSD), urged the government to implement environmental policies and engage in activities that can encourage proactive responses to climate change issues. Addressing climate change responses and impacts, Mr. Adejumo Godfrey, Sustainability and Corporate Affairs Lead at Unilever Nigeria, encouraged people not to view climate change as a 'spiritual problem' but as an effect of industrial and commercial environmental abuse.

Adaoha Njemanze, the principal consultant at NOVVA Media & Communications, announced during the event that the audio drama is set to go on a radio tour later this year.

"Does the Sky Fall on Everyone?" is written by Pyemwa Deshi, directed by Omoye Uzamere, and features veteran actress Taiwo Ajai-Lycett, Nollywood leading man Deyemi Okanlawon, and actress and media personality Omoye Uzamere.
