He disclosed that the body has record of foreign
institutions with its accreditation to train Pharmacist, calling for proper
orientation before accepting admission from schools without appropriate
accreditation.
He stated this at the induction/convocation ceremony of
Pharmacy Technician and Public Health Technician of Mercy College or Health
Sciences and Technology, Iwo, Osun State on Tuesday.
Represented by the Southwest Coordinator of the Council,
Pharmacist Adenike Ogunlola, he warned students against seeking degrees from
Neighbouring West-African countries to avoid wasteful ventures.
“Don’t go to Benin Republic, Togo, Cameroon and others
seeking further degrees, such venture would amount to waste of resources and
time. If you are seeking foreign degrees it must be in PCN approved
institutions.
“The PCN is aware that a good number of Pharmacy Technicians
seek further education in foreign countries. The PCN has nothing against such,
in fact, the PCN supports that. However, this must be done in PCN approved
institutions. Consequently, you are advised to confirm status of the
institution you want to apply for further studies before accepting admission.
You can can always contact PCN website or offices for the status of foreign
institutions”, he said.
Earlier speaking, the Chairman of the induction ceremony,
Professor Ajibade Lawal, to adhere strictly to the ethics of the profession in
a bid to become the best among their peers.
According to him, medical courses demand courage, especially
to avoid sharp practices which can tarnish the image of not just their
institution but also the professional body they belonged.
