The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) said it arrested popular crossdresser, Idris Okuneye, commonly known as Bobrisky for involvement in the abuse of the nation’s currency, the Naira.
The anti-graft agency said Bobrisky was apprehended at
Pinnock Estate in Lagos State on April 3, 2024, around 3 pm.
Dele Oyewale, the spokesperson for the EFCC revealed this
while confirming the arrest and detention of Bobrisky on Thursday morning.
According to Oyewale, Bobrisky is currently held at the EFCC
facility in Lagos and is expected to face legal proceedings soon.
“Bobrisky is with us. He was arrested last night in Lagos,
and he is at our Lagos command. We arrested him for alleged abuse of naira
notes, spraying of naira notes, and currency mutilation, among others.
“We are very serious about restoring the dignity of the
naira. Though our investigation is still ongoing, but he will definitely be
charged to court soon”, stated Oyewale.
