On Wednesday, Chelsea Football Club announced the acquisition of England defender Lucy Bronze from FC Barcelona on a two-year contract.

Five-time UEFA Women’s Champions League winner Lucy Bronze has completed her transfer to the Women’s Super League (WSL) champion after a two-year stint with FC Barcelona.

“To know I’m a Chelsea player still feels a little bit surreal. It’s obviously a club I know so much about and have done for such a long time,” she said. “I’m really excited to be back in England. My family are so excited as well to get to more of my games.”

Bronze has achieved remarkable success in the annals of women’s football, having secured prestigious titles at both the club and international levels.

The accomplished 32-year-old right back achieved remarkable success by securing the European Championship title with England in 2022. Additionally, she demonstrated her exceptional talent by reaching the final stage of the prestigious World Cup the following year. Furthermore, her impressive track record includes capturing three esteemed Champions League titles with Lyon and two additional triumphs with Barcelona.

Bronze has achieved remarkable success in the football leagues of England, France, and Spain. Throughout his illustrious career, he has secured eight prestigious league titles with renowned clubs such as Liverpool, Manchester City, Lyon, and Barcelona.

She was the second-place recipient of the Ballon d’Or award in 2019 and was recognized as the FIFA Best Women’s Player of the Year in 2020.

“Lucy will bring leadership to the group. She is a serial winner and a versatile defender. She has lots of experience and a winning mentality which we feel will fit well into the squad,” Chelsea general manager Paul Green said.

Chelsea Football Club has achieved remarkable success in the English women’s soccer league, securing the prestigious WSL championship title for an impressive five consecutive seasons.

Emma Hayes, the former manager, departed to join the United States Women’s National Team after the conclusion of the season. Sonia Bompastor, previously the coach at Lyon, has assumed the managerial role.
