The culmination of Nigerian Idol’s ninth season took place on Sunday, with Chima Udoye, an exceptionally talented contestant, emerging as the triumphant winner.

Chima’s remarkable achievement was duly rewarded with a substantial grand prize, comprising a significant monetary award of 30 million naira, a brand-new SUV, a lucrative music deal that includes the production of a music video, and a DSTV Explora accompanied by a one-year premium subscription.

The evening showcased several captivating performances, including a rendition of John Legend’s “Glory” by the top 10 contestants. Judge Omawumi performed her track “Thank God” with some of the contestants. Past winners Progress Chukwuyem and Victory Gbakara also performed. Guest performances were provided by Chike and Simi.

At the conclusion of the event, the Executive Head of Content and Channels at MultiChoice West Africa, Dr. Busola Tejumola, commended all participants for their diligence and commitment throughout the season.

“For many years, Nigerian Idol has continued to shine as a platform for aspiring singers to make their mark and thrive, and this season has been nothing short of extraordinary. We have witnessed incredible talent and unforgettable performances. Congratulations to Chima and all the contestants for their hard work and dedication. We look forward to seeing their future exploits in the music industry, as this is just the start,” she said.

Chima has now joined the esteemed group of previous winners, including Kingdom Kroseide, Mercy Chinwo, and K-Peace. Over the years, the Idol franchise has also produced some of Nigeria’s most successful singers, such as Omawumi, Timi Dakolo, and Mercy Chinwo, who have achieved notable recognition in the international music industry.
