In a recent interview on the Big Friday Show, hosted by
Tacha from Big Brother Naija, she candidly discussed her struggles with
identity related to her dual citizenship.
When asked about her choice to dedicate herself to
pageantry, Chidimma shared her aspiration to compete for the title of Miss
Universe.
“I think it’s something I started recently; however, I’ve
had this dream since 2017 to become the next Miss Universe. I’m really glad I
have been given the platform and the opportunity to at least try and reach that
goal,” she said.
Chidinma further elaborated on her successful navigation of
the identity crisis she faced, “It has been a long journey, so hard at times. I
would cry myself to sleep, questioning ‘Why me?’. I had to shift my perspective
to see potential greatness emerging from these challenges.”
This interview takes place after Chidimma's departure from
the Miss South Africa pageant, which was marred by allegations of fraud and
identity theft linked to her mother, as reported by the South African Home
Office.
Chidimma encountered backlash in South Africa following her
announcement as a contestant in the Miss South Africa competition.
Following this, she was invited by the Silverbird Group to
participate in the Miss Universe Nigeria pageant, an invitation she chose to
accept.
