The Lagos State Government has ramped up its enforcement efforts against businesses that breach the State Environmental Laws of 2017, resulting in the closure of several establishments and religious institutions on Tuesday.
Following an operation conducted by the Lagos State
Environmental Protection Agency in the Ojo Local Government Area, various
entities, including churches, hotels, bars, an event center, and a recycling
company, were sealed for non-compliance.
The agency reported that these facilities were found to be
in violation of the state's stringent environmental regulations. Babatunde
Ajayi, the General Manager of LASEPA, reiterated the agency's dedication to
maintaining environmental standards throughout the state.
"We will take decisive action against any establishment
that does not adhere to the state's environmental laws, and we encourage all
businesses to acknowledge their environmental responsibilities and collaborate
with the state government to foster a sustainable future for Lagos," Ajayi
remarked.
He reiterated LASEPA's commitment to maintaining a clean and
safe environment for all residents of Lagos, emphasizing that the agency will
continue to monitor compliance rigorously and take decisive action against any
businesses that breach the law.
The establishments that were noted as sealed during the
operation include Rockslide Gospel Church, Unique Caesar & Bar, a Recycling
Company, New Yorker Hotel, Flex Bar & Spa Hotel, Mountain of Faith
International Gospel, Jesus International Christian Church, VLC Donald
Restaurant & Event Centre, Zion Believers Church, and VLC Donald Hotel.
