The BON Awards aim to honor filmmakers who have demonstrated outstanding talent and creativity over the years, and the event will also include special recognition awards, as detailed on their official website.
Feranmi Olaoye, the Executive Producer of the BON Awards, expressed on Friday that these veterans are “individuals we grew up watching and they deserve to be honored.” He emphasized their role in inspiring the current generation of actors and their continued relevance in the industry, which is why they have been selected as this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award recipients.
Seun Oloketuyi, the Founder of the BON Awards, raised an important point regarding the timing of such recognitions, questioning why actors should not be celebrated during their lifetimes. “Why must we wait until our film heroes have passed to honor them? While posthumous awards have their place, it is far more meaningful for recipients to be alive to accept their accolades,” he stated.
The award ceremony is set to take place from November 23 to 24, 2024, at the Sugar Factory Film Studios in Ilorin, Kwara State. Previous awardees include notable figures such as Pete Edochie, Jide Kosoko, Liz Benson, and Kareem Adepoju, also known as Baba Wande.
