The students of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY) in Abeokuta have commenced receiving credit notifications from their respective financial institutions concerning the student loans they had applied for, as per the announcement made by the institution's Rector, Dr. Adeoye Odedeji. In this regard, Dr. Odedeji strongly encouraged the students to make optimal use of the advantages offered by this initiative.

This information was shared during the inauguration of the newly elected members of the Students Union Government (SUG) on Friday in Abeokuta.

Dr. Odedeji explained that the loans from the Nigeria Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) were obtained by the institution on behalf of the students to assist with their school fee payments.

He expressed concern that many students had not utilized the loan opportunities provided by the Federal Government.

The Rector urged students to take advantage of this initiative, emphasizing that it is designed to alleviate the burden of seeking funds for school fees.

“We found that we submitted approximately 11,000 depth data for NELFUND, and NELFUND awaited student registrations.

However, only 81 students from our institution registered and applied, and after screening, 26 students were deemed qualified.

The majority of students did not apply for the loan. I firmly believe that the opportunity remains available, and they should proceed to apply for this loan.

For the 26 qualified students, I received notifications this morning confirming the payment of their school fees, indicating that their fees for the upcoming session have been covered.

NELFUND will also credit their bank accounts with a maintenance allowance in due course, which will not be directed to the school,” he stated.

Dr. Odedeji assured that the school management and students would continue to collaborate for the overall advancement of the institution.

In his inaugural address, the newly elected Student Union Government President, Prosper Oladele, pledged to the student body his unwavering commitment to representing their interests with integrity and dedication.
