Edward & Clara Memorial Clinic (ECMC) has inaugurated its second facility in Lagos, located in Okota, over the weekend, directly addressing the healthcare challenges faced in Nigeria.

The launch of the Edward & Clara Memorial Clinic (ECMC), a walk-in health center situated on the first floor of SuperSavers Mall, Ago Palace Way, Okota, Lagos, significantly enhances access to quality and affordable healthcare at the grassroots level.

Dr. Augustina Anetor, Managing Director of ECMC, stated that the creation of this walk-in clinic is a direct response to the pressing issues within the Nigerian healthcare system, which include limited access, insufficient infrastructure, and high costs of service delivery.

Anetor, a Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon trained in the United Kingdom, returned to Nigeria following the Federal Government's call for healthcare professionals in the Diaspora to contribute to the growth, innovation, and inclusivity of the healthcare sector. She emphasized that ECMC aims to be a leading example in preventive healthcare, empowering communities across the nation to achieve wellness and vitality.

This new facility marks the second ECMC location in Lagos, following the opening of the clinic at SuperSavers Mall, Osapa, Lekki, which was launched in April 2023.

“Our clinics are strategically located within communities, allowing individuals to easily access urgent care. We offer a range of healthcare services, including clinical consultations, laboratory testing, treatment and management of minor to intermediate injuries and fractures, as well as health screenings and counseling,” Anetor explained.

She highlighted that ECMC utilizes technology and collaborates with health professionals and institutions both in Nigeria and abroad to ensure that communities, particularly in Okota, Amuwo Odofin, and Lekki, have access to quality and affordable healthcare solutions.

Dr. Anetor encouraged regular patrons of SuperSavers Mall and Okota residents to seize the opportunity of a one-month complimentary registration and consultation, inviting them to bring their family members to benefit from quality healthcare and gain insights into their health status.

During the opening ceremony, Mr. Lucky Egede, the chairman, emphasized that the launch of the Edward & Clara Memorial Clinic represents a significant advancement in nation-building. He stated that Nigeria can achieve remarkable progress when individuals contribute positively across various sectors and regions. Mr. Egede, who also leads the SuperSavers supermarket retail chain in Nigeria, highlighted that a healthy community is essential for a thriving nation. He urged shoppers and local residents to utilize the services of ECMC at the shopping mall to improve their families' health, remarking that “when you are healthy, you are wearing a crown that only the sick can see.”

Representatives from several residential estates and communities in Okota expressed their support for the walk-in clinic at the event, noting that it has effectively addressed the challenges of distance and access to quality private primary healthcare in the area.
