President Bola Tinubu has sanctioned the appointment of a new management team for the Board of the Bank of Industry Limited (BOIL).
A statement from the Presidential spokesman, Chief Ajuri
Ngelale, revealed that Dr. Mansur Muhtar has been appointed as Chairman, while
Dr. Olasupo Olusi will serve as the Managing Director and Chief Executive
Officer of the 13-member board.
The statement further detailed the appointments of Mrs.
Ifeoma Uz’Okpala as Executive Director for Large Enterprises, Mr. Shekarau Omar
as Executive Director for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Mr. Usen Effiong
as Executive Director for Corporate Services, and Ms. Mabel Ndagi as Executive
Director for Public Sector & Intervention Programmes.
Additionally, Mr. Rotimi Akinde has been appointed as
Executive Director for Corporate Finance & Risk Management.
Other members include Mallam Tajudeen Datti Ahmed, a
Non-Executive Director representing the Ministry of Finance Incorporated; Mr.
Adedamola Olufemi Young, a Non-Executive Director representing the Central Bank
of Nigeria; Reverend Isaac Adefemi Agoye, a Non-Executive Director representing
the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria; Mallam Muhammad Bala, a Non-Executive
Director representing the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade & Investment;
Mr. Oreoluwa Adeyemi, an Independent Non-Executive Director; and Mr. Sulaiman
Musa Kadira, also an Independent Non-Executive Director.
The statement highlighted that Dr. Muhtar brings decades of
experience in finance, international development, public service, and academia,
having previously served as Minister of Finance, Budget, and Economic
Development from 2008 to 2010 and as Vice-President of Operations at the
Islamic Development Bank prior to this appointment.
The President anticipates that the new board will
collaborate effectively, work diligently, and uphold their commitment to the
nation in fulfilling the essential role of this institution in supporting
initiatives that promote job creation, alleviate poverty, and improve the
socio-economic conditions of Nigerian families.
