Nigerian singer David Adeleke, widely known as Davido, is preparing to launch his latest single titled ‘Awuke’ on October 31.

This new track will feature YG Marley, an American artist and the son of renowned rapper Lauryn Hill and former NFL player Rohan Marley, as well as the grandson of reggae legend Bob Marley.

Davido announced the release date in an Instagram post on Tuesday, stating, “‘Awuke’ with YG Marley drops on October 31st.

Get ready for the motion.” The artist has been building anticipation for this project over the past few weeks, including mentions during Nigeria’s 64th Independence Day celebrations and at Lauryn Hill’s concert in Paris.

‘Awuke’ marks Davido’s first single of the year. He gained prominence in 2012 with the release of ‘Dami Duro,’ the second single from his debut album ‘Omo Baba Olowo.’ Since then, he has released three additional albums: ‘A Good Time’ (2019), ‘A Better Time’ (2020), and ‘Timeless’ (2023).

Davido is also the founder of DMW, a record label launched in April 2016, which has nurtured talents like Mayorkun, Peruzzi, and Dremo.

In March, he rebranded the label as DMW 2.0 and introduced two new artists. With numerous accolades to his name, Davido has established himself as a leading figure in the African music scene.
