Chinese technology leader Huawei announced a decline in net profit despite a significant increase in revenue for the first nine months of the year, according to a statement released to the Shanghai Clearing House.

The company reported a 13.7% decrease in net profit, totaling 62.9 billion yuan ($8.83 billion) for the period from January to September, as stated by the telecom and smartphone manufacturer.

Revenue increased to 585.9 billion yuan, up from 452.3 billion yuan.

While Huawei did not provide a detailed earnings breakdown for its various divisions, its core consumer business, which encompasses smartphones and PCs, along with its smart car components division, showed strong performance.

According to data from IDC, Huawei experienced a 42% increase in smartphone sales in China during the third quarter.

The company made a comeback in the 5G premium smartphone market last year with its Mate 60 series and continued this trend this year with its high-end P series devices.

The latest model, Pura 70, was launched earlier this year on the same day as Apple’s iPhone 16.
