Prominent Nollywood actor Kanayo O. Kanayo has expressed his concerns regarding the substantial military and police presence in Nigeria's Southeast region.

In a video shared on his Instagram account on Wednesday, he highlighted the ongoing humiliation experienced by travelers in that area.

Drawing a comparison to his recent trip from Ibadan to Lagos in the South-West, where he traveled approximately 80 kilometers without encountering any police or military checkpoints, Kanayo noted the stark contrast in the Southeast.

He pointed out that travelers in this region often face significant delays and disruptions, making it difficult to cover even a short distance of 200 kilometers without encountering numerous checkpoints.

“Why is the South-East so militarized and policed?” Kanayo asked.

“The humiliation and delays people experience in the region need to be addressed. For instance, passengers traveling from Enugu to Onitsha are often asked to disembark and raise their hands, subjected to unnecessary stress.”
