MTN Nigeria has announced its intention to promote Nigeria's tourism resources globally through a newly launched initiative called "See Naija."
In celebration of World Tourism Day, MTN Nigeria has introduced the See Naija platform, a digital initiative designed to highlight Nigeria’s rich culture, stunning landscapes, and creative talents. The launch event took place at the MTN Event Centre in Ikoyi and aims to challenge the misconceptions and negative stereotypes often linked to Nigeria.
The See Naija platform serves as a carefully curated online space where users can explore the beauty and uniqueness of Nigeria’s diverse culture, showcasing everything from breathtaking natural scenery to vibrant festivals and traditional lifestyles.
In partnership with various content creators, the platform will feature engaging visuals and narratives about notable locations such as the Great Oyo Empire, Gashaka Gumti Park in Taraba State, Gurara Waterfalls in Niger State, Mount Patti in Lokoja, Agbokim Waterfall, Osun Sacred Grove, and many more.
Additionally, MTN has launched the ‘See Naija’ Competition, inviting participants to rediscover the stunning sights and sounds that reflect Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage.
By using the hashtag #SeeNaijawithMTN, this creative challenge encourages individuals, including content creators, photographers, and videographers, to share their unique interpretations of Nigeria through photos or videos that capture the essence of the nation, whether through its people, landscapes, culture, or traditions.
Ugonwa Nwoye, the Chief Customers Relations Officer and Acting Chief Marketing Officer, commented on the initiative, stating, “At MTN, we embrace the beauty of diversity and inclusion, which are central to our identity and organizational culture.
Nigeria represents a broader picture of our culture, being one of the most culturally diverse nations with over 500 languages and more than 300 ethnic groups. The country’s rich cultural heritage, which includes art, crafts, and traditions from the Nok civilization to the Benin Empire, has shaped its identity.”
In order to reshape the perception of our nation and highlight its splendor on a global stage, it is essential for us, as natives, to contribute actively. This is the motivation behind our newly launched competition, which invites Nigerians to engage in the process of redefining our history.
We encourage everyone to share their narratives about the vibrant markets of Lagos, the stunning landscapes of Calabar, or the traditional festivities in Kano. Our rich culture, from our culinary delights to our artisanal crafts and the multitude of languages we speak, holds countless stories yet to be told. Let us recognize and celebrate Nigeria for the beauty it genuinely possesses, she emphasized.
