Halima Hassan, the mother of the late BBNaija star Rico Swavey, has candidly discussed her ongoing battle with grief and mental health following the tragic loss of her son in a car accident in 2022.

In an interview with Chude Jideonwo, she revealed that Rico’s death was especially challenging for her, marking the second son she has lost.

Halima expressed a deep yearning for his return, even if it meant he would be in a comatose state.

To manage her grief, she has chosen to honor Rico’s memory by adorning her home with his photographs and engages in daily conversations with them, sharing her thoughts and plans before stepping out.

“It was an incredibly tough time for me; I felt like I had lost myself. All I wished for was for him to return, regardless of his condition,” she shared.

“When he passed, I insisted on being with him in those final moments, telling him, ‘The music you couldn’t share, I will help bring it to life. I won’t let your hard work fade away.’

“I have Rico’s pictures displayed throughout my home. Each time I see him, I smile and say, ‘Rico, it’s a new day for me; I’m heading out today.’ I talk to his picture, sharing my daily plans before I leave. Every morning, I pray, asking God for the strength to continue with my life,” she reflected.
