Frank Warren, the promoter for Daniel Dubois, has ruled out the likelihood of an immediate rematch between IBF heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois and Anthony Joshua, despite earlier expectations for a second fight following their encounter in September.

Warren has indicated that they are now considering other opponents for Dubois’ upcoming match. Dubois, known as ‘Triple D,’ was anticipated to face Joshua again after securing a stoppage victory in the fifth round. Shortly after the bout, Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, expressed hope for a rematch, suggesting that negotiations were moving forward. However, discussions have recently stalled due to conflicting timelines for both fighters.

Hearn noted that Anthony Joshua is still in recovery from minor injuries sustained during their first fight and will need more time to recuperate. In contrast, Dubois is aiming for a return to the ring on February 22, a timeline Hearn believes is too soon for Joshua to be fully fit and competitive.

While Hearn proposed delaying the rematch, Warren is eager for Dubois to remain active and has decided to pursue other options for the time being.

“I don’t see that happening next,” Warren told BoxNation regarding a potential Dubois vs. Joshua rematch.

“We are looking at a couple of things at the moment and will make a decision. I was hoping to get it done quickly, but it won’t happen this time. We need to focus on Dubois and keep him on track for February 22.”

Warren indicated that Dubois remains his top priority, adding, “With the greatest respect, we’re in the Daniel Dubois business. He’s the one that matters to me, and he wants to fight on that date.”

This situation is consistent with IBF President Daryl Peoples’ recent statement that Dubois is eligible for an optional title defense against any ranked opponent before April 22, thereby keeping the door open for potential domestic matchups, including a possible fight with Fabio Wardley.
